Our brand new CD, "Edge", consists of music composed by three very different composers...

Henning Sommerro: Three pieces for violin and accordion

Henning Sommero is known for having worked with many different styles and genres and, for many of his pieces, folk music has been a clear source of inspiration. It is not uncommon that we witness how he twists and turns the familiar, and he invites the musicians, as well as the listeners, into a whimsical game of associations.

This time he has really helped himself to what can be found in the larder of the Nordmøre region of Norway: we will be serving up lamb chops, sausages and steak!

Synnøve S. Bjørset: Isolation. Conscience

In the book Innsirkling, the author Carl Frode Tiller gives in-depth descriptions of the characters’ inner monologues. He creates a completely unique atmosphere where, in particular, the gnawing sense of bad conscience is tangible.

The sound of this inner turmoil was part of what Bjørset was seeking to convey when she wrote “Isolation. Conscience".

Wolfgang Plagge: Aspects

Wolfgang Plagge’s compositions range from liturgical music to symphonic works. And, in the midst of this variety, we find the work Aspects, that he wrote specially for us.

Commanding playing, melodic themes in sharp duels, unresolved harmonies - the first movement left us half-hanging in the air.

We drift slowly along the lines and phrases without end. The sun goes down in the second movement. We lean back slowly.

In the third movement, beautiful melancholy gets the chance to unfold. It is inspired by a folk tune from Valdres.
